DUI MAT Integration/Outreach Project 2.0

The DUI (Driving Under the Influence) MAT (Medication-Assisted Treatment) Integration/Outreach Pilot Project 2.0 is one of 30 projects in California’s MAT Expansion Project, State Opioid Response II (SOR II). The projects are made possible through a grant by The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA) and the Department of Healthcare Services (DHCS).

All licensed DUI Program Providers in California are eligible to apply to become a DUI MAT 2.0 Subcontractor. The managing contractor, The California Association of DUI Treatment Programs (CADTP), accepted applications November 5, 2020 through December 4, 2020. DUI MAT Subcontractor selections will be announced in January 2021.

Background

DUI MAT Integration/Outreach Pilot Project 1.0 was one of 26 projects in the State Opioid Response (SOR) supporting the MAT Expansion Project, made possible through grants from SAMHSA and DHCS. The DUI MAT Integration/Outreach Pilot Project began on September 29, 2018 and was active through September 29, 2019. 27 DUI Programs were selected to participate in the project.

DUI MAT 2.0 began in September 2020. 40 DUI MAT Subcontractors were recruited to participate in the project that runs through September 2022.

DUI MAT Subcontractors are responsible for: 1) providing MAT and Poly Substance Use Disorder (Poly-SUD) education to staff and clients; 2) Conducting substance use prescreen assessments; 3) Facilitating client services for clients’ voluntary participation in the DUI MAT program; 4) Collecting and reporting data; 5) Attending training provided by DHCS and CADTP. The project was a success as evidenced by the number of people who received education and access to medication-assisted treatment, and other treatment options, throughout the project.
